If you were asked to describe the Christian God in a few sentences, what words would you string together? Consider David’s words:

4 Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts;
his name is the Lord;
exult before him!
5 Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
6 God settles the solitary in a home;
he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

Psalms 68:4-6

I find myself moved and comforted by David’s description “lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts.” It comforts me to know that our God is not far from the “desert wastelands.” In fact, he rides through them. What’s more, David says that our God “in his holy habitation” is the Father to the fatherless and protector of widows. David is giving us a description of who God cares to be in his heart of hearts. In his heart of hearts, God settles the solitary in a home.

This Christmas, we have an opportunity to express God’s Psalm 68 character. Trinity Grace is partnering with Men Ending Trafficking to host a special Christmas Banquet for women who have been impacted by Toronto’s sex trade. These women are functionally like widows because they do not have a godly man in their lives to protect them and fight for their flourishing. And many of them have broken stories of lacking a good father in their lives.

We have the opportunity to demonstrate Jesus’ gospel of grace–the good news that reunites us in loving and healing relationship with our Father in heaven. As a local church, let’s find gladness in being a “home” that God uses to provide respite to these women during this Christmas season.

When: Dec 17, 5:00 – 8:00 PM
Where: Trinity Grace Church, 826 Eglinton Avenue East, M4G 2L1

For the safety of our guests, this will be a closed event with a strictly applied guest list. If you would like to assist with this Christmas Banquet, please speak with Sarah Kim or e-mail her sarah.js.kim@gmail.com. Men Ending Trafficking is a ministry under SIM Canada, and is led by men from local churches. See more at menendingtrafficking.ca and johncassells.com.
