At Trinity Grace Church, we aspire to be a blessing. From the perspective of eternity, the greatest and one enduring blessing on earth is to build up Christ's church and for his church to be his salt and light in the city and beyond to the world.

From of old, Abraham in Old Testament Scripture looked forward to Jesus and the eternal city. God said to him, “I will bless you… so that you will be a blessing.”

Then Jesus taught his disciples, "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:13-16).

Now in Christ, his church is called to be his blessing–to continue his ministry of grace overflowing into good works as Christ's salt and light to the world.

We build up Christ's church, therefore, as his new “city upon a hill.” We're called to be a new city within the existing city, even as it points to her hope of the final New City–the city of God promised in the new heavens and new earth. Until then, the church’s gracious presence of social, cultural, and spiritual renewal preview our great longing for Christ to “wipe away every tear from their eyes” and for there to be “no more mourning, crying, nor pain.”
